Canada’s 42nd Parliament

When the 42nd parliament opens on December 3, all Members of Parliament in Canada’s new government will have something to ponder in their mail boxes.  The Canadian Horse Defence Coalition recently sent all MPs this post card below to both acquaint them and remind them of Canada’s horse slaughter industry.

It is extremely important that each and everyone of us also take a few minutes to email respective Members of Parliament.  If you don’t know who your representative is, you can find who they are here.

It is also important that you meet with your MP as well, if possible.  Tell them you do not support Canada’s horse slaughter industry and do not want your tax dollars funding this cruel and unsafe practice.  You are welcome to use any of the CHDC’s links and investigations found on our web page, Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Remember – if you don’t speak up for them, no one will.

As we move into this new government and a new year, we are looking forward to working towards legislation to end Canada’s shameful horse slaughter industry.  With your support, we can make this a reality.

America and Canada must work together to save horses from the inhumane and horrible fate of slaughter! Our horses have carried settlers upon their back, plowed the fields, went to battle with our solders and have benefited man, woman and child in so many ways. We all remember how we all wished to have our own pony or horse as a child. Many of us never had that dream fulfilled, but can still remember the joy of riding on a pony or horse for the first time. They were not only created to help man physically, but were, obviously, created as companions to us as well, capable of love which is so evident in their own families. To kill them is to kill the spirit of life in all of us. Show compassion by putting “Human” back into the word “Humanity” and do not let the horses into Canada to be slaughtered. “The greatness of a nation is judged by the way it treats animals.” – Gandhi Isn’t compassion and empathy the legacy that we want to pass down to our children and future generations better than cruelty and greed?

  8. This is a great initiative! Thank you to CHDC. I will share it online and email it to the 2300 people who have signed my petition to ban and outlaw the slaughter of horses in Canada for human consumption and export to the EU and Asia. Best wishes, Arya
