Horse Warriors Found In Unlikely Places…….

Vitality cover

Not the original issue in which the letter appeared.

The following letter was found by a CHDC director while casually looking through the print version of a Vitality magazine.  As you may know,  Vitality promotes green living,  human and animal health,  and natural therapies.   One astute Toronto reader of the magazine took issue with an advertisement for  “horse hair” mattresses as a by-product of the horse slaughter industry.

The magazine published her letter,  which you can read here.  Thanks to her initiative,  now other readers of the magazine are more aware of the pervasiveness of the horse slaughter industry.

Kudos to Jocelyne…hopefully more people will take notice and spread the word about the horrors of horse slaughter.

The slaughtered horses are treated just like cattle, goats sheep or any other livestock. If a company can make a buck off of their hide they do it. Horses are the only one of all the “livestock” that a person can train to ride and is as much a pet as a dog or cat. The public that buys horse hair stuffed chairs or anything else are not interested in horses or what happens to them if they were, these items wouldn’t be for sale in the first place. From the comments I have read in newspapers in the UK about horse meat turning up in frozen food found all over Europe last year most of these people are as dumb as a box of rocks. Most of them don’t care about the vet drugs found in the meat at all. None of them have ever been around horses don’t know the first thing about them.

  3. When I was a child, we had a neighbor who was born and raised in Germany. All of her upholstered furniture was stuffed with horse hair. I recall being disgusted and I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. Also you must never buy soap made in Mexico or Spain as it has horse fats in it and Italian Leather is made from horse hydes. It is everywhere.
