Just a staggering number of horses, including ‘loose horses’ being sold at this auction.  They have this to say on their web site:

The breakdown looks like this: 4,233 GELDINGS; 3,362 MARES; 224 MULES; 393 STALLIONS; and 255 WEANLINGS!!!  All sale divisions – including loose, catalog and open consignments!  We offer Catalog sales EVERY month!  Quality and Selection, ranch horses, using horses, cow horses, rope horses, real prospects, fancy mares, ponies, they all sell here at BLS.”

A listing for the upcoming sale is here.

In October 2012, equine advocates were at the Billings sale that month so we’ve put together a little document of photos from that sale here.

    Reblogged this on Loki’s Gift.

  2. This so breaks my heart, and leaves me breathless, I’m so disturbed how horses are treated. Real men do not harm animals….Do some soul searching….Live. by the sword, die by the sword.Greed: can’t take it with you. God is watching……

  3. REAL men DON’T harm animals great and small…….This not only breaks my heart, it actually takes my breath away, that I live in a place, world where the almighty dollar is so important that people will bred and torture Gods’ noble horses. I think that greed has really consumed some souls. I believe these people need to do some soul searching……The next time ONE that pokes out a horses eye,or tortures any horse or any animal, remember ”What comes around, goes around’.

The US politicians get millions of dollars passed to them from lobbyists sent in by all of the big horse organizations. This is the reason that all anti-horse slaughter bills die in committee. Even with most of the House of Reps cosponsoring the only ones in the Senate are the Senators that sponsored and wrote the bill. No other Senators have signed on at all so both bills will die like all the others have done. The US government is so corrupt that it makes North Korea look like a kiddies party.

Oh yeah, just keep BREEDING AQHA, yup they are out of control… Slaughter is NOT the fix the fix would be to regulate somehow BREEDING but yet this country gives these people right offs in making more and more baby’s.. REAL SMART…. Last year this Organization Reg. 150,000 foals and right now they have incentives for young people to breed more, just sickening… they hide behind the very horses that fills the President of the Organizations pockets with money then when the horses are not valued anymore DUMP them at slaughter… I found out by accident what BLM has been doing and this horse slaughter I have horses and still had NO IDEA that we were transporting them across borders… SINCE I have found out I have also learned that WE LITTLE PEOPLE if you will, ( WE THE PEOPLE) have NO VOICE at all, I have learned how corrupt some of our politicians are and watched it just a bit ago when the RULES COMMITTEE would not even give the horse slaughter bill and horse soring bill even a chance to have a debate on the floor NONE the majority leader pretty much gave them a NO so yeah I have learned a LOT and am discouraged with our leadership if you can call it that??? WE ALL know horse slaughter is NOT the fix but instead of dealing with the issue’s they throw innocent horses to be tortured, it’s absolutely disgusting even the idea of shipping all our horses to Foreign Country’s to eat there tainted meat it’s against the law HERE, but yet it is ok to put Foreigner’s at risk of health issues..
What can anyone say to that???????

  6. For your information, the Parkers are founding members of United Horsemen. This sale tickles their pocket book.
