Op-Ed: Man shoots horse then posts video on Internet (Graphic Video)

By Elizabeth Batt March 22, 2013

Roswell – In a sickening message to animal activists, Tim Sappington, a man looking to buy horses for a proposed horse slaughter plant in New Mexico, shoots a horse at point blank range on video, and then posts it on the Internet.

The beautiful chestnut horse follows Sappington willingly as he leads it out of the pasture towards a prime vantage point in front of the camera. The man stops for a moment and pets the equine — first on the neck and then below its forelock.

  3. Violence against women and so-called “sexual” crimes increase dramatically in areas that have slaughterhouses. I am sick of hearing about how slaughterhouses help “unwanted” horses when the reality is that federally funded horse rescues create jobs AND help animals.

    1. Speaking of domestic violence – a lot of times when women leave abusive partners, they have to leave their animals behind. This is why we need government funding of animal rescues. It’s a women’s issues and not just an animal issue.

If he does this sadistic act on camera, imagine what he’s capable of doing when nobody’s looking. This sicko should never be allowed near children & animals.

How can this not be illegal? It makes me so sad.

There are also threats of burning down the Chavez slaughter plant too. I hope someone gets a chance at it. This man needs to be hung from a 20 FT. lamp post. He also puts me in mind of the crazies that will barricade themselves in their house and fight it out with police. That colt looked like someones pet that was dumped at a auction. What a nice kid’s horse he would have made.
Nice horses just like this one are killed everyday in these cesspool slaughter plants here and all over Europe.

  7. Abby is right, stop breeding horses. As is so often the case, people who have no respect for animals are usually the ones that find jobs relating to their welfare. In a just society, this man would face charges. Sadly, most horses and other animals that are slaughtered have a much worse time of it. There are few heroes in our world, (e.g. David Shepard). We should celebrate them.

He most likely beats the H— out of his wife and kids when not hurting horses.
