Horse Meat Scandal Having a Ripple Effect in Alberta

Grof 2According to an Alberta kill buyer, “the pounds of meat we’re shipping to Europe has been cut in half.”  Bruce Flewelling, who sells horses for slaughter, said he was told last week by the facility he sends his animals to that it couldn’t accept any for the time being.  Flewelling is known to sell to Bouvry Exports in Fort MacLeod, AB, and was interviewed last year in this Youtube video.

I don’t know how he can sleep at night. A horse has a soul and has sacrificed much for mankind. Maybe the Canadians will take their head out of their ass, wake up from their weekends at their cottages, and start paying attention to what is happening inside their country.

Glad to see that people are finally learning about the inherent cruelty of slaughtering of all animals for food; I do love horses but know that cows, chickens, sheep and pigs are also sentient beings who have the same right to life as horses do.

Let’s hope this will end horse slaughter in Canada!! But we still have to keep the pressure on here. We need to get as many signatures as we can for Bill C322.

This person seems to live a very comfortable life, on the backs of animal suffering in Albertas Horse slaughter houses. I have about as much respect for the likes of a person such as this as most CIVILIZED people have for De Barres, and the WORST of the WORST Bouvry.

One good thing coming out of this scandal is that it has drawn serious attention to the dark secret of horse slaughter and consumption!

I want to add that if the research is done. After they get to a slaughter house they can stand in crowded stalls, jammed on top of one another for sometimes up to a month. This is right I DONT THINK SO” WE MUST STOP THIS PLEASE

I watched the video and I did not see one horse that was crippled and how could you put a crippled horse in a trailor with a bunch of other horses. All I can say is Thankgod for the rescues out there and we gotta shut this guy down, I ask you did you see any hay there for all those horses,NO WE DID NOT

Ha Ha Ha – This blow up is beyond my wildest dreams of a way to stop horse slaughter.

    1. Oh I so agree !!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy about this I cannot really find the words You are so right Ha ha ha this has blown up beyond any kind of media attention I could have imagined happening and its ” finally” making the public governments and media take notice of the brutality and obscene reality of horse slaughter

I guess you heard when Swiss citizens saw the undercover investigations of the video of a horse slaughter operation…. they were really angry about the obscene cruelty and withdrew products of horse meat from store shelves !!!!!!

Paul McCartney’s statement is slowly coming true.. ” If slaughter houses had glass walls people would NOT eat meat. Factory Farmers of all kinds of animals better start taking heed Those walls they hide this obscenity behind are becoming more transparent every day We will overcome them

Should be cut by 100% ….Too much risk they are tainted animals especially coming from the USA. Horses are companion animals to most of us and have been treated as such (with all the drugs we use for compassionate care and to keep them healthy.) Thereby making the ineligible for slaughter for human consumption. Europe you have been duped too long. Stand up and just say NO to tainted horse meat!

  12. What? The killer buyers and slaughter plants and CFIA thought that the toxic horse meat could be sold forever to our allies? That’s just plain old silly thinking that Europeans don’t care about their health. That’s like saying we wouldn’t feed our own pets that toxic horse meat but hell, let’s dump it on the Europeans and Asians and make them pay for it too! Like, who does that? *blush*

    1. jacquie Ackerly. · ·

      Right on!!

    2. jean robertson · ·

What better way to raise public awareness of the existence of horse slaughter for human consumption than this horsemeat scandal.
Oklahoma may not get to open its slaughter house to butcher the BLM wild horses.
