A Sickening End

Shedrow Confessions writes about Backstreet Bully, a Thoroughbred who, despite concerted efforts by many to save him, was slaughtered at Les Petite Nation slaughterhouse in Quebec this week.

Please read about him here

To Shelley G: anyone come up with the name of the KB involved in this yet? I am truely disgusted at the whole mess, and this horse dying for, what it seems is spite. I find it odd that the KB would not resell the horse…..I have bought lots from different KBs…very odd.
I had to move and the website is shut down, stalker problems. PM me on face book please, cheers maureen johnston (lost all my emails addys) ;(

Jean Robertson, that is a great idea, fantastic. If the Doc Zone goes with what you provide them THAT IS PUBLIC EXPOSURE to this barbaric industry, and that is what is required. On Jan 14 i emailed POWER and POLITICS with Evan Solomon on CBC. They are somewhat of an investigative program on nightly Monday thru Friday. It seems that presently the U.S. is taking issue over meat from Canada being fast tracked straight to U.S. processors, without inspection at the border. Their argument, that going back to Maple Leaf Foods where 22 people lost their lives, up to the largest meat recall in Canadian history, where it was U.S. ” NOT CANADIAN INSPECTORS” who picked up on ecoli tainted meat THEY SEE A VALID ISSUE OVER MEAT EXPORTED FROM Canada as being safe for human consumption.
My comment to Evan Solomun of Power and Politics, the issue of CANADA knowingly exporting tainted meat is as large an issue with the E.U. and horse meat, and they may find it very interesting to further investigate.

I am mailing a copy of PROOF OF CFIA FAILURE to W5 in hope that they might put together a episode on horse slaughter like they did on the conditions on swine factories in Manitoba. The Doc Zone is also a very good educational program. Until the public knows what goes on nothing will change as those that profit from horse slaughter will keep quiet and keep their sordid business operating.

Until such time the Horse rescue associations in Canada and the U.S. come together as one, this barbaric industry will continue to flourish with impunity, as it has the support of the federal govt, as well as premier Allison Redford and her supporter C. Bouvry. Further with a majority Conservative govt. we should not be naive to even think BILLC322 ever had a chance of becoming law. Its as simple as that.
With Canadian and U.S. Horse rescue associations coming together as one, it means much greater financial resources ,and planning will be able to achieve what has always been the achilles heel of this movement” PUBLIC EXPOSURE”. [ Radio, Telivision and Bill Boards
Simply put the PUBLIC CANNOT EXERT THE PRESSURE ON THESE COMPRIMISED POLITICANS , WHEN THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE.
If there is anyone out there in a position of authority in the U.S. and Canadian Horse rescue movement,” PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN”

  5. I was going to post this, but his name is wrong on the link. You have Broadstreet Bully instead of Backstreet Bully

I agree with all the above! But how do we stop this horrible slaughter?

  7. This is totally disguisting. This beautiful young gelding had a lot of life left to give someone. This makes me sick.

WE HAVE TO EDUCATE OTHER COUNTRIES ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE EATING, IF WE CAN CURB THE DEMAND THEN IT WILL HELP OUR BELOVED HORSES. NO HORSE SHOULD BE SLAUGHTERED, 3 COUNTRIES HAVE BAN HORSE MEATNOW WE NEED MORE OF THE BAN, PEOPLE AGE GETTING SICK OVER THERE. THEY NEED TO BAN

  10. Here is the most important point….Human Consumption Horse Slaughter (HCHS) does NOT provide a service or much MORE a qualified product for any living entity to consume.

    That is a fact.

One can quibble about the past, but today’s science says equines from the US (and most industrialized nations) are not suitable for ANY consumption.

That the US (especially USDA and their proxies), Mexico, Canada and the off shore slaughter ships allow this is an indictment of reckless disregard to human welfare and an overwhelming stamp of approval of corruption, cruelty and incompetence. It is an indictment of our “trusted” food systems.

Sleep well sweet Prince….you are not forgotten.
