Follow up report on kill buyer Ayache and Three Angels Farms

Dear Horse Advocates,

As you know last week, a 53′ Three Angels Farms trailer carrying 36 horses broke in half while traveling down an Interstate Highway. This second wreck within 5 months has triggered the release of the linked report, rather than wait any longer for additional regulatory documents and records regarding their violations.

Private citizens, concerned after the TN wreck in January, prompted an undercover trailing of Dorian Ayache’s Three Angels Farms in May.  Ayache’s notoriety as a kill buyer (think Presidio, TX and the possibly hundreds of dead and dying horses discovered in a dry gulch on the TX/MX border) and disregard for public safety laws, demanded action. So flagrant and numerous are Ayache’s transport violations (64 for vehicular safety in a 24 month period), that his DOT license was revoked in 2010. He currently runs with a DOT # under Edwin Ayache.

The wreck in January involved 34 horses. Three were severely injured and euthanized. Last week’s wreck resulted in one horse’s death. There is little doubt that Ayache’s operations will lead to more wrecks, killing horses and eventually people. Documented during the May trailing are Ayache’s violations of Federal Motor Carrier regulations, as well as USDA regulations.

Three Angels Farms drives multiple truckloads of horses every week to Presidio, Texas. It is a fact that he does not comply with regulations for public safety or humane transport. It is also a fact that during this investigation, Ayache was forced to take back approximately 10-12 horses that were rejected from going to Mexico for slaughter. Does anyone believe those sick and injured horses received humane and necessary vet care? Horse slaughter is a free ticket, a get out of jail card, that promotes cruelty.

It is a matter of record that Ayache is in some ways just the flavor of the month. Other, equally malevolent kill buyers and transporters include Leroy Baker of Sugar Creek Auction, OH; Stanley Brothers Farms, Hamburg, AR, Saulters Livestock, Waco,TX, Keith Tongen, Brownton, MN… The list goes on.

Thank you for using this information as quickly and effectively as possible in an Action Alert or Call for Action. The Tuesday deadline is upon us to call upon federal lawmakers to support of the Moran Amendment defunding horse slaughter. Ayache should be a poster child for much of what is wrong with horse slaughter.

 Please contact for further information.

 Thank you!
