Mare and foal in Thunder Bay Ontario need forever home

We have been advised about a situation in the Thunder Bay, Ontario area of a mare and foal who due to difficult circumstances are looking for a safe, forever home.

The current owner, an elderly gentleman, saved them from the meat man while the mare was in foal.  They need to be in a new home by the end of January.

Dorothy, the lady who sent this note to us, says that: “I hope people can be very gentle with this gentleman who is making a very hard decision and has agreed to let us help him find a home for the horses.

He gave permission to post the ad with CHDC, but please, please serious enquires only….he’s very upset.”

Please do not bug or aggravate this elderly man whose whole world is falling apart.  He has a kind heart and simply can’t afford their care any longer.

If there are any questions, picture requests etc. please contact Dorothy at marathon2002@hotmail.com  She will do everything she can to assist in this process and as she has promised the owner that we will all preserve his dignity.  He has given permission to post them anywhere that will help.

Thank you

  1. I suggest someone post this sad situation on the “Homeseekers and Heroes” Facebook page. It’s a steadily-growing network for rehoming horses and other equids throughout the U.S. and Canada. And if anyone would like to join a new U.S./Canada rescue transport network, please send a Friend request to “Fleet of Angels” on Facebook. We need more members on all levels – actual transport, stopovers, route planning, technical assistance, spreading the word, etc.

  2. Is the foal a girl or a boy? What is the age of the baby?

    1. Hello. Would suggest you get in touch with Dorothy, the woman who requested that we post about this situation. Her email is in the post.
      Thanks!

Why don’t we all chip in a little money and help him out …can we start a fund?

Although I am not aware of how to “officially” collect donations, I can tell you that we require five hundred dollars to pay the “price” for the horses. Then we can bring them to a temporary accomodation that is safe..until they can be transported to a rescue or home. This has to happen asap..sadly its a time crunch that is not flexible.

if the only thing that is holding you back from giving momma and baby a forever home, is transportation, and if you live in huron or perth country, or surrounding counties, please contact me, we can help. contact me either through facebook, mary antislaughter willett, or email me at bailley_boo@hotmail.com.
