They also served

Today Canada remembers those who lost their lives in war.  We remember the memory of not only the millions of soldiers who died for our freedom, but also for the over eight million horses and mules lost during World War 1 and World War II.

Lest We Forget

In dreary, doubtful, waiting hours,
Before the brazen frenzy starts
The horses how him nobler powers;
O patient eyes, courageoud hearts!

Captain Julian Grenfell (1888 – 1915)

  1. What a wonderful tribute…the poem at once uplifted and broke my heart.

  2. They say Pictures speak a thousand words..
    These Pictures speak for themselves!
    A “HORSE”, also once called “A Service Animal”

  3. THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE A MENTION OF THE ANIMALS WHO SERVED DURING THE WAR. WHAT WOULD MAN HAVE DONE WITHOUT THEM. GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM. MAY THEY BE IN A WORLD THATS FULL OF PEACE AND LOVE X
