It is wonderful to hear that the government has stepped forward and admitted to making a mistake. What about Standardbred Canada and the harness racing industry stepping forward to admit that they have made mistakes by NOT protecting the Standardbred horse in all this mess? Wouldn’t it be nice to hear that now, they too, will fix their mistakes and finally put an anti-slaughter policy in place to protect their horses. It is time to hear from Standardbred Canada and the harness racing industry about how they will better protect their horses – it is time for them to put an anti-slaughter policy in place!
The provincial government is not responsible for the racehorse owners, breeders, etc. sending their horses to slaughter – that is a personal choice and many times an illegal choice due to the drug issues – and one that could be ended by Standardbred Canada taking an anti-slaughter position.
