Update on U.S. Horses to Slaughter

Today there have been conflicting reports throughout the day, but it is apparent now that U.S. horses are being accepted again at Canadian slaughter plants.  When we have more information, we’ll pass it along to our followers.

Meantime, here is an update received a short time ago from U.S. based Equine Welfare Alliance:

“We apologize for the delay in this update but we were receiving conflicting information from the EU. We heard several different explanations including one that said he didn’t know anything about it.

What we do know is that unfortunately, the ban was lifted today and the trucks are rolling again. I guess the falsified EIDs and lack of traceability aren’t of concern to the EU.

While this was short-lived, just think of the day that it becomes permanent. That day is coming!

If we receive any additional information, we’ll pass it on to you.”

The reason: A VET in France determined there was a mislabel on some meat products that were imported from Mexico. This had NOTHING to do with drugs. It did however expose the corruption of the animal rights and many rescues. Immediately they were claiming horses were caught in the pipeline and HAD TO BE SAVED..at some BIG BUCKS. Even Habitat for horses jumped on the band wagon. This was NOT an EU directive. It came from one vet (and this is a good thing) The slaughter at Fort MacLeod is one of the best in any country. They have made incredible changes to the whole process. I do support Slaughter AS AN OPTION. If it is banned…then there will be “new” frontiers to ban regarding horse ownership. I am concerned about the Ontario government shutting down the TB racing incentives. This could leave 13,000 TB’s at risk. I contacted a group and said I have a buyer for 50 and maybe 60 yearlings or two year olds. They said ABSOLUTELY NOT …(they don’t have any horses it turns out) BUT they told me NO TB’s would be placed where they would EVER be used in any manner. There we have it…the new agenda

So sorry to hear import of horses had resumed. This is so wrong and we must protest to EU!

The greatest weapon in the war against evil is prayer. Persistence is prayer is required to end the sin and violence that is so normal to this planet. Our example in persistence in prayer is the Savior himself. When pursued by evil or trying to defeat, do what Jesus did, go to the Father in prayer.

Of the 8 horses I now own, I can’t think of one of them that has not received bute at one time or another. The older or lame horses receive many doses when they are ill or lame. Those are often the horses that end up shipped (not mine of course). So this seems to be a viable way to end horse slaughter. The consumer of horse meat needs to be made aware of the danger they put themselves in when eating meat from the US. Who do I contact?

*sigh* is right. Now pick up your weapons (blogs,news,phones,e-mails,legals) and begin again. If it ended for a 24 hour block of time, It can end again for a time-less amount. Do it for the horses–for all the lost faces—

  9. sigh. And that’s why animal rights people are considered whackos.
Wishing death on another human for what they choose to eat, even for what they choose to do to their animals, isn’t in my DNA. I thought it was, but no, I can’t do it.
Expressing your homicidal thoughts on the internet gives the anti-humane lobby more power.
That’s why I believe in animal lefts.
I will continue to hope for a day when horse-slaughter isn’t the horror-show it is now. Over-breeding MUST stop. The big breeders must ensure the welfare of all their animals. The BYB’s need to be regulated, along with the big guns. It’s just good sense.
The XL Foods beef recall is costing many millions of dollars. Canadian dollars, jobs, livelihoods. That’s what’s trickling down right now.

I knew this story smelled wrong.
