Beau Jacques in happier times
The sad demise of former racehorse Beau Jacques will upset any horse lover.
Here was a thoroughbred gelding who, at five, was at the end of his racing career.
Owner KevinPatterson had spent $US1000 in veterinary care to help Beau Jacques over a tendon injury suffered on March 29 last year, in the first step in getting him right for a new career after racing.
Kelsey Elva Lefever, 24, met withPatterson in May and held out the promise of a bright future for Beau Jacques.

I totally agree.
The courts should make an example of this “woman” and give her the maximum sentence(s) which the law allows. What she did is not only disgusting but she willingly misrepresented herself and what she was really doing. The owners of the horses that this woman sent for slaughter should sue her. Maybe then others who are doing the same thing will stop. You have to hit them where it counts: in the wallet and possible prison time. The Internet is a good tool to get the word out and expose these individuals.
This was posted today in the Phila. Inquirer. she didn’t get jail time, – got a first offender program, ugh!!!!!! We need to make this a criminal offense. Right now this is not against the law to sell horses to slaughter but she did it through fraud and misrepresentation so that is why they got anything on her at all. This is sooooooooo awful. HB # 2966-Horse Slaughter Prevention Bill that has to get passed and then it will be illegal to sell horses at all.
