A Gem of an Update!

Some of you may not know the story of Gem and Cocoa that sadly ended in tragedy for Cocoa.  For those of you who did not hear about this you can read about here:  http://canadianhorsedefencecoalition.wordpress.com/2011/01/30/ospca-fails-another-horse-this-time-with-tragic-consequences/

This tragic fate almost befell Gem but she was lucky to be rescued and……

Have a look at her now!

According to Brenda at Equine Adoption and Rehabilitation Farm  “She is rideable and I have highly trained her on the ground. She responds to my body movements and I am hoping to make a short video for you.

I also have the hair around her eyes growing back.  That has been a challenge because there was nothing to work with as it was so dead,  but I know all of the tricks of the trade and it’s working slowly but surely.  We are making a difference to better their worlds.”

GOD HAS BLESSED YOU GEM XX

    • THANK YOU SO MUCH LINDA

Every ounce of work that I have put into this mare was more than worth it.
When I stand back and look at her now, that is the result I love and strive so hard to achieve.
Gem is God’s horse and HE is the BOSS of this Farm. I am just one of the several special people he chose to do good work for HIM down here for horses.
The CDHC did a fantastic job getting Gem and Cocoa’s story out there. I found out about them way too late to help Cocoa, and that bothers me still because she died such a long agonizing death (not days….MONTHS). So, I have a special memorial place for her here on the farm directly behind Gem’s paddock. I wish I had known about them in time because Cocoa would be here today.

      THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!
      Gem and Brenda

OH BRENDA MY HEART ACHED WHEN I READ WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT COCOA. I AM SURE THAT SOMETIMES THINGS JUST TURN OUT TO BE AS THEY ARE. MAYBE IT WAS NOT FOR COCOA TO BE SAVED BUT I KNOW THAT NOW SHE IS NOT SUFFERING AT ALL AND THAT SHE WILL BE THE HAPPIEST SHE HAS EVER BEEN AND I AM SURE THAT GEM WILL FEEL HER PRESENCE AROUND HER TOO. I PRAY SO HARD FOR THE HORSES THAT TO ME ARE SO MAJESTIC AND SPIRITUAL AND BEAUTIFUL AND ARE SO MUCH A PART OF THIS WORLD AND I TRULY HATE WHAT MAN DOES TO THEM. PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE WONDERFUL AND I LOVE TO HEAR THE WONDERS THAT YOU DO. GIVE GEM A KISS FROM ME. THANK YOU X

I have to say I feel lucky to have seen the transformation of Gem at Brenda’s farm. Everyone who meets Gem is just amazed by her personality. Brenda had lots on her hands to get her back to the way she should be. Definetly a “Gem of a story”!

    • Hi Ilona

I must say that you were a big part of bringing out her personality. How many times did you come here to see your sponsored horse (Lucky) and always take lots of extra time to spend with Gem???? EVERYTIME!!!!!!
She’s always had her radar on you, she knows your coming with lots of carrots and treats, love and attention. Illona is a wonderful sponsor and her sponsored horse Lucky really is LUCKY!!!
      XO U

I sure will give her a kiss. She’s out in the paddock rolling in the mud, having a hay day!!

  4. Just received the latest begging for money flyer from OSPCA. They proudly declare that they serviced 12,819 cruelty complaints. 124 criminal charges. A less than 1% “success rate”, and we are NOT told if any convictions actually happened. Remember the THS? OSPCA removed 1991 animals from “life threatening situations”.. I guess Rocky and all the hoarder animals help that stat. Almost 8000 animals adopted. How many euthanized? How many ignored in neglectful situations? ACCOUNTABILITY. Please.
    For Apalachian Chief.

    Thank you for saving Gem.
RIP, to all those neglected to their deaths, by cruel fools with no business owning anything that breathes.

    • I agree with you 110%, besides the only horse that should ever be put in a garage is a mustang convertible. I think there are so many people out there that would love to be informed of Chief and how he is doing now. If it was good news….it should have been told
Thanks for your kind words about Gem. She’s pretty happy.

      • The bad news happened to Chief the day he went into that garage, to be neglected/ ignored for the owner’s sick pleasure.
The OSPCA’s begging letter was written by Scott Sylvia, the first OSPCA officer to attend Chief’s incarceration. Scott is still patting himself on the back for the dog neglected to near death. Proudly counting how many “orders” were issued. I wonder how many orders were issued on Chief. Like the order for a farrier, which wasn’t complied with until he’d been in there for 5 months.. The lies OSPCA told still scare me.
I am trying to confirm further news about Chief. A commenter called “Jason” commented on Chief’s story on this blog, and “Jason” later contacted me. I haven’t heard back for a while now. Since we know that Chief’s owner has been reading this blog, I tend to be very suspicious of, well, everybody.
The news Jason sent me wasn’t good. No surprise, of course, considering that Chief was still owned by the psycho. The OSPCA was Chief’s only hope of getting away from the owner’s sick clutches, and they let him down.
